I had so much support from my new co-workers and Daphne that I felt right at home and knew it was the right fit for me.
They say that people don't leave jobs, they leave managers. I believe the opposite is also true - people don't stay for the job, they stay for the manager. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful manager, especially considering how much chaos has happened in the past year. I was nervous about switching from bedside to case management because it is a very different discipline and this is not really material that is taught in nursing school. I had so much support from my new co-workers and Daphne that I felt right at home and knew it was the right fit for me.
Between COVID-19 and the winter storm, there have been many challenges that case management has faced in the last year alone, but we had such strong and clear leadership that it has been a pretty smooth process with all things considered. People don't realize how expensive and convoluted healthcare truly is and how many moving parts there are in each patient's care. Patients here are so incredibly lucky because we have a case management manager who is compassionate and caring. When it is necessary to do so, Daphne does what she can to help us with figuring out unique solutions for discharge needs. Daphne is the ideal manager in every way!
