Darcie Mathews displayed exceptional caring by providing ongoing needs to a patient in the community. She went to the patient's home nearly every evening after work and weekends to care for her wounds and do the dressing changes, the wounds healed due to the kind ongoing generosity of Darcie. She was also nominated for her keen clinical skills involving a patient noting reactions and ongoing care of this patient. She would come in and check on the patient early in the morning and late at night and several times during the day. When this patient was discharged to go home, the patient shared that she may not be able to get her daughter ready for her first middle school dance, her hair and make-up. Darcie showed up at this patient's house and got the daughter ready for her first dance. Simultaneously making two people happy. That moment is forever captured with that little girl and the extraordinary act of a nurse coming to her home to get her ready for a dance, the same nurse who cared for her mommy so she could get home in time to see her daughter go to the dance.
