The St. Mary's Hospital Foundation proudly presented a DAISY Award to Darcy Bishop, RNFA, Perioperative Services, for being the calm in the face of an emergency. In her nomination letter, she was described as taking the lead on a difficult case in the middle of the night that her colleagues had no prior experience of. An excerpt from the nomination reads:
"Darcy took the role as leader and with few words concisely explained to the circulator and scrub the procedure and the nuances of their roles in it. Her expertise and ability to convey the needed knowledge to her team made for a smooth case and aided in a positive outcome for the patient."
Darcy was also overheard reassuring the patient that the team was going to take good care of the patient.
