June 2024 Honoree
Darcy Essmyer, BSN, RN, IBCLC
My daughter was inpatient in the PICU for three weeks. Darcy was the first nurse she had after surgery, and she cared for her several times throughout her stay. Darcy is a true pro. She cared for my pre-teen daughter as if she were her own. She was patient and caring, and never seemed flustered or frustrated. It never felt like Darcy was just checking off the boxes of tasks she needed to get done, she was always mindful of caring for our daughter and what she was going through. Darcy always made time to make sure our daughter had clean clothes and bed linens and help to wash and braid her hair - things that some of the other nurses would help with only if they had time...and often they didn't. I could also see from her demeanor and how she worked that Darcy is a conscientious coworker - she always went above and beyond to make sure the night shift was set up for success. As we prepare for discharge, I can honestly say that Darcy is the person who has made the most impact on our stay. She helped our daughter and our family in so many ways, and we are so grateful for her steady presence, professionalism, and outstanding care. Thank you, Darcy!
Thank you, Darcy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
