I was blessed to have Daria as my nurse. She was prompt in getting me a wheelchair, IV, fluids, and eventually pain medicine. Daria explained everything to me before doing it and promptly got me an ultrasound to evaluate what was happening. She got my husband a drink and was so kind and thoughtful in her care. She went the extra mile to make me comfortable, making me the best hot pack ever. Daria listened to me, heard my concerns, let me cry, and then helped me make the decision to go to surgery. I felt she went above and beyond, and I’m sure she does for all her patients. She started working at Women and Infants in 1997; I can’t imagine all the lives she has touched and how we, her patients, have benefited from having her as our nurse. She is so deserving of this award— she is a bright light at the hospital, during a dark time in my life.
