I was concerned when his heart rate slowed but I was not afraid because I felt safe with Dariene.
I was at the hospital to be induced with my 2nd baby. My first birth was a scary experience where I had no pain relief and did not feel supported. I was very nervous and scared when I arrived at the labor and delivery unit at 5:30 in the morning. I actually cried before I left my house because I was so afraid. When I got hooked up to my Pitocin and met my day nurse, she immediately made me feel comfortable and she was very kind. She listened to me patiently and explained things to me in detail. She communicated with me and made sure I was taken care of. She not only was kind and concerned about my pain management and comfort, but she was also knowledgeable and knew exactly what she was doing. She positioned my body in ways to help speed my labor and facilitate cervical opening. And when my baby’s heart rate began to dip, she was calm and collected as she did what she had to do to ensure he was going to arrive safely. I was concerned when his heart rate slowed but I was not afraid because I felt safe with Dariene. I knew we were in good hands. I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart for her kindness, patience, strength, and knowledge. She is a young nurse, but she impressed me so much and she will continue to make a difference in the lives of women and babies for years to come. She deserves recognition and praise for her excellence.
