Nurses may be assigned to care for the patient, but I assure they are as much a caregiver to the family as to the one hospitalized. My husband will never admit to it, but he was scared, and while Darin cared for him, he acted as much as if he were my husband's friend as his caregiver. This did a great deal to facilitate his recovery. Darin was a calming influence, chatty about mutual interests and all the while providing outstanding care and assessing those aspects of my husband's health where he could help. I doubt my husband was the only patient he inquired about upon arriving for his shift and not the only one whose family he sought out to reassure. Darin stopped by his room often during his shift and it meant the world to me that he did that for us. Hold onto this jewel at St. Patrick Hospital. I so much appreciate Darin and on behalf of my husband, we want to thank him.
