DeeDee’s dedication went beyond just nursing care. She provided my daughter with a familiar face of love and kindness, a voice my girl could recognize anywhere.
Dar’jene was an incredible primary nurse to my baby girl during her five-month stay in the NICU at Children’s.

She was born at 28 weeks, just 2 lbs, and got NEC four days later, leaving her a lengthy and hard journey. I’m so thankful DeeDee came into our lives through it all. Her compassion, expertise, and unwavering support made an immense difference in my daughter’s care and comfort.

If my baby girl didn’t seem right, she advocated to the doctors immediately, and those smallest things mean the most in those itty bitty preemies. She made sure she was calm, comfy, and clean every single night. If DeeDee was there, her bed was perfect and so was her outfit. And even if she didn’t have my baby girl as her assignment, she would always check in on her, which meant the world to me.

DeeDee’s dedication went beyond just nursing care. She provided my daughter with a familiar face of love and kindness, a voice my girl could recognize anywhere. I knew if DeeDee was there, she was in good hands. Which meant a lot in the last 7 weeks of our stay because I couldn’t always be there, considering her twin sister came home a bit earlier than her!

She provided emotional strength and hope during the toughest moments, truly embodying what it means to be an amazing nurse. She became not only my baby’s safe place, but mine as well. She knew just how to answer any questions I had, and she always reassured my mind when it went to worrying.

We are forever grateful for her kindness and the exceptional care she gave to my sweet baby girls. I really hope she knows how amazing she is.

Thank you, Children’s, for providing my girl with such an incredible nurse and caregiver.

We love our DeeDee!
