Darla is an incredibly skilled, knowledgeable and professional nurse. Darla has been a charge nurse in the PICU for 8 or 9 years. In that time, I have watched our unit become better and more cohesive in caring for our patients. She attends every conference and educational seminar. She always brings that knowledge back to help improve the PICU. When she is charge, she fully knows every patient. She spends time with each family to ensure that their questions and needs are being met. I have watched her through the years comfort patients, families, and even fellow nurses. Darla's dedication to our patients and unit is unparalleled. She will come to the unit to place lines in a patient on her day off if there is a need. I know of no other nurse that will do something like that. Darla truly is a saint and an extraordinary nurse.
