Darla Page is one of our many great nurses at HOMES. Darla is excellent with the patients and goes above and beyond to give them what they need. Darla oversees the eyeglass clinic at the Stewpot Clinic. She takes complete ownership of that clinic. Darla must take the glasses to an eyeglass location where the glasses get prepared for our patients and then pick them up to get them to the clinic. Darla thinks of the patient and which shelter they are staying a,t this helps her get the glasses to the patient, Darla also thinks of the patient's disabilities and if the patient can get to the clinic easily. Eyeglass frames are bought from the Dollar Stores and given to patients. Darla buys these frames on her own and expects nothing in return. During holidays Darla also crochets scarves for patients and the smile and gratitude that she receives in return is all she needs.
Darla Page has been with HOMES over 5 years in those years she lost her husband, who was also a HOMES employee and she remained with us. Darla has never lost her passion for taking care of homeless patients. If you ask Darla what her drive is at work, she will always respond by saying "I am here for my patients."
