Darlene Steinkamp, RN (7C ICU), took care of our wife and mother during her admission until her passing over two weeks later. She was kind, compassionate, and the best patient advocate. Despite her ultimate passing, I believe that we were blessed with extra days with our loved one because of Darlene’s advocacy for her care.

Darlene used exceptional critical thinking and assessment skills to interpret signs and symptoms she observed, communicating with providers and specialists to deliver care that improved mom’s alertness and comfort. We were able to non-verbally communicate with mom and be comforted knowing that she was not in pain, which greatly assisted with comfort and closure when she passed.

Darlene is an exemplary ICU nurse and an incredible asset to the unit and to the patients she cares for.
