I recently spent close to two months at Mercy Medical Center. All of the nurses here are exceptional, but the one who stands out the most is Darlene. She went out of her way to make sure that I didn't get depressed, especially after I had two amputations. Since that time, I've had a partial blockage in my small intestine. I was discharged from the hospital and I came back a few days later with a full blockage. The doctor did an exploratory procedure and removed the blockage and ten inches of my colon. Darlene brought out my sense of humor on both the best and worst days of my hospital stay. She didn't complain when right after she left my room, I would call and hang up on her 5 or 6 times in a row. That's okay, she got me back by calling me from home and hanging up on me! Besides all of that, she found it in her heart to take my dirty jacket to her house and wash it. She also brought me clean new clothes for discharge. If I ever come back here for any reason, I really hope she can be my nurse again!
