Darlene is our angel nurse. I can’t imagine my life without her in it as she has been the most professional and caring nurse to my son A. She goes out of her way to not only know and meet all his medical needs but actually takes it upon herself on her own time to research and understand all his diagnoses to better provide the best care possible. If we make a change with the doctors about his treatment plan or a change in his medications, she will be the first to learn about it to better implement it to the best of her ability. Not only that, she is connected with A and she has taught him about his care and how to self-care and self-advocate appropriately.

Her compassion and thoughtfulness have made A thrive in his care. I always say I truly couldn’t have done the things necessary for my son without her support and commitment to my son. Even though there is always a sense of professionalism in the dynamics of the patient to nurse, there is also always undoubtedly a feeling that she is part of our family. She is like a bonus addition to our family. Even years later she will always be part of our family to share the monumental moments in A’s life as she was part of the foundation that helped build it. Darlene is truly an extraordinary nurse and a good person with such a kind and pure soul. We love her unconditionally.
