May 2009 Honoree
darlene mullins, RN
Darlene Mullins had a patient who had been receiving IV antibiotics at home and who was recently hospitalized. The patient had been taught to administer his own meds at home with a tubing extension. During hospitalization, the extension was removed. The patient is managed care and has only a limited amount of visits approved. When Darlene learned that he needed extension tubing added and a new clave on the end, she arranged to meet him at the hospital when he came in for a test at Diagnostic Imaging and added the extension and clave for him. She did this on her own time, as an act of compassion.
Thank you, Darlene, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
