Darlene Nierling, RN

I am an RN and often work in the birth center; however, being a patient in your own line of work presents challenges. You know what is good versus bad, right versus wrong, reassuring versus troubling. You know what positions you should get into and what lingo the providers and nurses are utilizing. However, being the patient, you can feel vulnerable and uneasy. That’s where Darlene Nierling comes in. Darlene was called in for additional training during our labor and stayed the entirety of our labor through delivery. Darlene stayed for over 24 hours to learn from the other excellent nursing staff while providing the utmost care for myself and my husband. She always had a smile on her face, and her calming presence was obvious. It is obvious that Darlene takes outstanding care of her patients and goes above what is expected of her. She was devoted to me and our labor, that was very evident. There were many nurses who also took outstanding care of us. Floyd County Medical Center is blessed to have these outstanding caregivers.
