Darlene Rivard, RN

Darlene is one of our best surgical nurses and she takes extraordinary care of our post-surgical patients. Recently Darlene went over and beyond with helping out with the discharge of one of our complicated post surgical patients. Darlene was not even the nurse assigned to this patient but she stepped in because she knew exactly what to do. She made multiple phone calls and was excellent in her communication to make sure this patient had a safe discharge plan. Darlene prevented this patient from having to stay another day in the hospital after she had already been there for three weeks. On another occasion, I witnessed Darlene making sure a nasogastric tube had the right adapter as the new kits they come in do not have the right adapter for the sump. Darlene’s attention to detail ensures patients are getting the best care and she shares her knowledge and experience with younger nurses.
