Dave has been more of everything we have needed in every situation. No nurses have been rude or neglectful, but none have made me feel like every time I walk out of the room, I am leaving my husband in the care of family.
Dave makes me feel that way. He offers me information and education before I ask for it. He recognizes individuals in our family on sight and remembers our names. He even considers that I am hard of hearing with every communication.
Watching him interact with my unconscious husband is a comfort. Dave talks to him, not at him, and he checks for little ways to add to his comfort like lubricating his eyes and shaving him. He actually cares. This isn't just a job. And I think God for Dave every day since I met him.
