David J Carlos, BSN, RN

First to be recognized in the ICU as a DAISY Honoree is David Carlos who joined the critical care team in April 2020. Among his multiple nominations, David was commended for his genuine concern and warm care towards his veteran patients. Beyond the keen nursing skills he has rendered, he made a significant impact during each encounter by making his patients feel at ease despite their frail conditions. One of his patients noted David's "joyful, encouraging spirit," while another noted his "genuine interest in serving a veteran." This patient was so comfortable with David that despite only having met, he felt “it was like we had known each other for years.”
