David Murray gave compassionate and skilled care to my brother while in the cardiac unit and I am 5000 miles away. My brother has been ill all his life, and now has challenges to deal with after his double by-pass. He has difficulty communicating his level of pain after his surgery. This made it impossible for staff to give him the right dose of pain medication and threatened to delay his recovery. Rather than just doing the basics for my brother, David was able to quickly assess the situation correctly and implement a system he could understand. David shared his system with the rest of the staff as they too learned how to determine my brother's stress/pain level. David patiently and respectfully answered all my questions when I called from Hawaii. On one occasion my brother was so scared that he refused to hang up the phone, I overheard David patiently explaining to him what needed to be done, and why, which calmed him down immediately.
David demonstrated a level of understanding, skill, and empathy that can only be the result of excellent training and years of dedicated practice. My brother's open-heart surgery was the most terrifying experience he has ever been through but it was made more bearable for both of us due to the outstanding care given by David Murray.
