My only wish was that we could go in there and tell my dad that David had spoken to me and that we loved him and to keep fighting. David reassured me that he would do this.
How do you even begin to “thank” a person who was truly an angel from God in a time when my family needed them the most? David was that angel. He was the nurse for my father at Baylor Scott & White in Brenham. My dad was admitted to the hospital with double pneumonia and tested positive for COVID. He spent his last days on this earth in the hospital. He passed away with no family by his side. David was our “family” and did a wonderful job taking care of my father and keeping our family informed of Dad’s days and nights, whether they were good or bad. David would explain in detail how he was working with Dad to do breathing treatments and stated that he was encouraging my father to keep fighting. These were very trying times for our family as we were not allowed to be with him, and our only communication was what David would tell us, and he did a great job of keeping us informed. Each time I would talk to David, my only wish was that we could go in there and tell my dad that David had spoken to me and that we loved him and to keep fighting. David reassured me that he would do this, and it made him feel so good to be able to go in each time and tell Dad, “Your family loves you,” and  hug him from us.
