David Louwers 2, RN

I would like to nominate David for his outstanding compassion, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond for our patients. Recently, we had a very sick toddler with DKA who desperately needed an IV placed. This patient had been poked over and over by many medical staff, but she was so dehydrated, we couldn't get a line. Despite it being his day off, David did not hesitate to come in at 8:30 pm when he heard we were struggling. He arrived with a calm presence and reassured the family, then skillfully placed an ultrasound-guided IV. His kindness and confidence brought relief to a very stressful situation. This act alone speaks volumes, but it is not the only reason he deserves recognition. David consistently exemplifies what it means to be a team player. He is always ready to lend a hand, answer questions, and share his knowledge with others - no matter how busy his day is. He loves to teach students as well. He treats everyone with respect and brings such a gentle energy anytime he's on our unit. We are so lucky to have him as part of our team.
