David McCowan, RN

I was recently a patient at Aurora Pavilion in Aiken SC for detox and treatment. Nurse David McCowan does much more than simply dispensing pills, and engages patients in the Psych Ward at Aurora in the most kind, informative, and affirming process groups. He is an absolutely Extraordinary Nurse in every way. He understood what I was going through, and went up and beyond the call of duty in helping me get well. It would be a mistake for him not to be recognized for his passion for nursing. Nurse McCowan gave all of us a gift, the gift of joy found in music. He had all of us pick out 2 of our favorite songs, and it was quite remarkable in the Psychiatric Ward with patients who come in with a myriad of issues, for whom he allowed joy to enter into their hearts and souls. Nurse McCowan has touched my heart, soul and spirit. Nurse McCowan, for me, was a life-changing experience as he actively engages with his patients with kindness, respect, empathy, and understanding.
