Our family truly appreciates Mr. David Retzer for his exceptional care of my brother while he was in the hospital recovering from surgery to remove colon cancer. My brother has an intellectual disability with the mental age of a 3-year-old and stress-induced epilepsy. Having major surgery for cancer and the recovery was very difficult and Nurse David showed exceptional compassion that went well above and beyond in trying to make my brother feel comfortable and safe. His conversing with my brother about topics he likes such as Sesame Street and his willingness to help him sit up and watch him when PT was unavailable such as doing notes in his room so he would not be alone in order to help speed his recovery was exceptionally compassionate. Nurse David is a wonderful human being. You are a lucky hospital to have such a hard-working, kind person. He definitely deserves this DAISY Award.
