I had been admitted for a heart/lung problem. This, after recently losing my husband of 55 years, left me feeling very sad, lost, and alone. I felt so miserable, I just lost control and David found me crying alone in my room. He sat down in the chair next to me and held my hand until it passed and I felt better. He didn't try to talk me out of it; he was just there for me. Soon I was feeling better and could continue healing. For this reason and for many more, I nominate David Smeed for the DAISY Award.
