David was kind, thoughtful, patient, attentive, supportive, respectful, and reassuring.
My 33-year-old daughter, A, fell face-first on a wood floor and injured her nose. She was scared and hurt when we arrived at the CG-ER. She is autistic and is terrified of medical treatment. During triage, David quickly assessed the situation I was in. In all his interactions with her, he was kind, thoughtful, patient, attentive, supportive, respectful, and reassuring. His *wonderful* bedside manner kept her calm and cooperative. He made what could’ve been a very noisy and stressful two hours a calm and quiet one for us.
A is terrified of needles! David took a lot of time to explain to her what would be happening. He reassured her he was using the smallest needle possible, and it even had a "butterfly" on it. He empowered her to tell him when to put it in so there would be no surprises. Unfortunately, her vein rolled, and another attempt was necessary. He went to the lab and got V to come over, and it was a pain-free one, and it was done! That was pretty *awesome*! David's extra effort to go and get the more experienced lab tech for my autistic daughter makes him a true DAISY Nurse!
