My dad was a patient nearing the end of his life. David was assigned to his room as our nurse.

The level of care and compassion that he showed my father was beyond anything I've ever seen.

When my dad could no longer orally take pills (and even crushed pills were difficult to get down), he took his time and gave him microdoses on a spoon with juice. He was patient and loving and took as long as needed to ensure my father was comfortable.

He tried to think of various positions to put my father in to make him comfortable, with pillows, wedges, small tips and tricks that he had. He wasn't just doing his job - he was extending his heart and treated my father as if he were his own.

My mother was having a very hard time handling the decision of starting hospice care, and David reassured her that her decision was not one of "giving up", but rather helping ease pain.

David was fast as lightening, moving quickly and skillfully through tasks. He is the brightest star in the sky, and we are thankful that God sent him to us.

We will never forget what he did for my father.
