... Nurse David is very professional, he is so caring, he is patient, kind, and very knowledgeable of his job. He has a loving spirit and most of all he made me feel safe with his gentle ways of communicating and making sure I understood everything going on with me, the whole time I was under his care.

I was scheduled to have a (Heart Cath), and became nervous and excited, causing my blood pressure to elevate. I also became very apologetic each time he came in to check on me. He I guess now realized that I was nervous and he drew a chair close to my bed to explain some things to me.

Here is the way this Powerful Conversation went:

He said, "first of all, you do not have to apologize to me for doing anything for you. I am here to serve you in every way possible, promoting the best health for you. He saw that I was very nervous about the Cath Procedure scheduled, so he began to explain how the procedure would go and most of all, he promoted the people that would be taking care of me in that area by telling me that, they did this procedure all day long and was the very best at it. Boy, what a relief that was on me. He said that there was a whole crew of people there just waiting to take care of me and I had nothing to worry about.

I could go on and on and on about the wonderful care that Nurse David performed regarding my care. Let me just tell you what happened after I came back from recovery.

I was so hungry, I had to fast for the (stress test), and the next night, the (Heart Cath) so when I was all finished these procedures, I was ready to eat.

Nurse David came in with his schedule and instructions. He said, "Hi, how are you feeling? Are you in any pain right now?" You know the drill. He told me not to move my right leg at all and that in about 3 hours he would sit me up a little. He did my vitals and gave me the medications that were due and he smiled, and said that I'll bring you in some food in about 2 hours. My husband caught on to the humor, but I didn't. DAVID, I said, "I can't wait 2 more hours to eat. He said that he knew my husband had brought me a banana and that my daughter had stopped and got a roasted chicken breast from KFC and my sons had some MacDonald's. He explained to all of us that I needed to lie flat and not move around, and that eating while in such a compromising position could cause some health issues and suggested that we wait just a little while and he would sit me at a 30 degree angle, and I could eat all I wanted. He kept checking on me around every 30 minutes and he made sure my pain was well managed and my visit with my family was a great one.

On behalf of my family and myself, we would like to thank you David for being there for us. Thank You Tampa General for having David there for all of us.
