I was admitted from the Emergency Dept and taken to a room where I met my nurse, and this is where Dawid's compassion and determination to make his patient comfortable began.
He said he was going to get me hooked up to IV's. He wanted me to lay flat on the bed. I explained that I had a 20-plus-year-old chronic pain in my back and lying flat would not work. He showed me a packet that you would squeeze, and it would get cold, and that worked wonders.
Dawid has his own personality and looks at the bright side. I could hear him saying to himself, "I have got to figure this out to get her back iced and comfortable." While I was in and out of sleep, I heard some furniture moving. Turns out, Dawid found two drawer bedside chests that he moved as close to the side and middle of the hospital bed as possible.
Dawid truly deserves recognition. He truly acted above and beyond what any nurse has ever done for me before and I am eternally grateful for his help and concern assuring me that I could find myself again. It was that attention and dedication to me, as his patient, and his encouragement that got me off to a great start to recovery, which I don't think I could have done without his encouragement.
I didn't get to say goodbye to Dawid when I left, which I regret. He is truly a special person and a great nurse that I was so fortunate to have had the privilege of such a caring and encouraging person on my side. My future is better because of his care and encouragement. Thank you, Dawid. I am forever grateful.
