Professor Dawn Bedwell is special in many ways. I would like to name just a few. I have worked with Professor Bedwell in both the clinical setting as well as in academia. Like me, Professor Bedwell always knew that she would eventually transition from clinical to a faculty role. She obtained a master’s degree so that she would be more equipped to do so. When Professor Bedwell learned that I wanted to do the same, she took me under her wing to make this transition seamless for me. In getting to know Professor Bedwell in more of an academic role, I learned that she was not only caring and kind to her patients, but this transitioned to her faculty role as well. She is extremely knowledgeable as a nursing instructor and her passion for the role shines through. It is obvious from her interactions with students that they respect her as a knowledgeable and experienced nursing faculty member.

In the same way Professor Bedwell cares for her students, making sure they gain the knowledge necessary, she does the same for faculty. Professor Bedwell has recruited several nursing faculty members within the past several years. After she recruits new faculty, she continues to support them. She never hesitates to lend herself when new faculty have questions or concerns. She contacts the faculty in the courses she leads to make sure they are comfortable and prepared for the week. Professor Bedwell is so passionate about this role and deserves accolades! Congratulations Professor Bedwell.
