Dawn Burks, RN

I arrived in the ICU after a rare and very challenging active GI Bleed. I was assigned to Dawn Burks. Dawn's compassion was evident immediately as I was in a lot of pain and she advocated for new pain medications quickly to give me some relief. By the following afternoon, I was downgraded to the floor, but I suddenly began to feel very dizzy and nauseous. Dawn quickly realized that I was having a serious problem and pushed for orders for me to have an immediate cat scan. The CT showed critical internal bleeding and I needed emergency service. I feel Dawn was instrumental in saving my life that night, and I am forever grateful.
Over the next few days post surgery, her professionalism, tireless efforts and concerns comforted me during this difficult time.
Dawn is an extraordinary nurse and my family and I are grateful beyond words that I was under her care during this ordeal. I can’t imagine anyone being more deserving of recognition.
