Denee is a staff RN in PACU who volunteered to be detailed to MICU-CCU for 60 days to help out. While working as staff RN in MICU-CCU, it has been my observation that she always takes special care of the veterans; paying attention to their needs and spending time talking and visiting with them and their families.
On one occasion, Denee drove anhour from her home to bring food to one of the veterans she had cared for the past few days. She told me that while caring for the patient, they always expressed a desire for ham, gravy, potatoes, and beans. She also noted that she had never seen anyone visit this patient and so, she cooked the food the veteran was longing for and brought it to him on one of her days off.
I strongly believe that Denee went above and beyond her duty to make sure the veteran got the meal he had longed for. Denee is an asset to our hospital and to the nursing profession.
