The energy and enthusiasm Dawn has to achieve excellent care are extraordinary.
In my last stretch, we were overflowing with patients. Dawn, in both the role of house supervisor and as charge RN ICU, was able to maneuver rooms, beds, nurses, patients, and care with grace. We had some really sick patients and intense admits each night, including admits from the ER and sick patients transferred from the floor.

We had one patient who she worked with tirelessly to get out to UNMH. His needs were beyond what we could offer, and he made it in the nick of time. We had two patients on different nights needing CRRT, and she made it happen. She is uniquely skilled in looking at the big picture, thorough in considering our hospital's resources, and has the innovation and creativity to bring this all together and make sure our patients get the right care in the right place at the right time.

Another thing that sets Dawn apart is that she does not rely on others to get things done. She gets the beds moved, pre-cleans rooms/equipment, communicates with different service lines involved, and searches for necessary equipment that is not usually used. A femoral Trialysis catheter is an example of an item she searched high and low for, but we did not have one. She does it herself. She ran around and ensured things got done in a timely manner so we could serve our patients. She is a leader who would not ask anyone to do something she would not take on herself. She doesn't need to be asked twice to make something happen. She also looks ahead, figures different tangents the night may take, and is well prepared for whichever comes to fruition. The energy and enthusiasm Dawn has to achieve excellent care are extraordinary. I love when she is on a shift with me.
