Dawn saw me breaking down in the hallway and she grabbed my hands, prayed with me, and gave me reassurance that he would be well cared for.
I am currently a nurse practitioner for another facility. My world got turned upside down when my husband was admitted to the hospital for intussusception. During our hospitalization, Dawn provided my husband with compassionate nursing care. She made us feel like we were her only patient. Dawn was always present, knowledgeable, and caring. Even after she did an enema to prep him for his colonoscopy, she walked away with a smile on her face and told us it was her pleasure to care for him during our hospitalization.
My husband was found to have a large tumor in his colon. At 33-years-old, this news left us baffled, scared, and confused. Dawn saw me breaking down in the hallway and she grabbed my hands, prayed with me, and gave me reassurance that he would be well cared for. She continued to provide compassionate care until my husband was transferred to the surgical unit. But her care didn’t stop there, she continuously checked on us and advocated for us with other treatment members. Words cannot begin to express how her love and care for us had such a great impact during my husband’s recovery. Her actions have inspired me to be a better nurse.
Thank you, Dawn, for all that you do!
