Dawn Morey is a Pediatric Nurse and Team Leader on Johnson 5 who has dedicated her nursing career to Beverly Hospital patients for the last 24 years. According to her colleagues, an ordinary shift for Dawn is "consistently extraordinary". She is a tireless advocate for patients and their families, and exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding nurse. Among her many gifts is the ability to sense when something is "just not right" with a patient and bring in the appropriate staff and resources to address the patient's needs.

One nominator notes, "Every physician in our group values the concise, intelligent assessments Dawn makes when pediatric patients are admitted," and, "I have never encountered a family that was not charmed by her warmth and empathy." Another says, "She thinks beyond the tasks, makes every effort to be her patients' advocate, and pushes for what is needed."

Dawn promoted forming a joint pediatric task force with nurses in the Emergency Department, is the primary preceptor for new nurses who are cross-training, and never fails to recognize and acknowledge the achievements of colleagues and other departments.
