April 2010 Honoree
dayna sparacino, R.N.
DAYNA demonstrates TMC values as a very dedicated RN who is compassionate even when pressed in on all sides by patient care demands. A patient letter captures the essence of the nominee: “after my surgery, I had the privilege to be cared for many of the hospital’s staff. All were compliant and professional, but one in particular NURSE DAYNA did her job at such a high level of degree that I felt compelled to write this letter. The first night I came under DAYNA’S care, she had a troubled patient. For hours DAYNA talked to her patient trying to calm him down. After about 3 hours, I had enough and lost my patience. Now DAYNA had a disturbed man and a very angry one in the same room. As the situation came to a close, DAYNA managed to calm him and I down. The next night if I rang for a nurse, DAYNA was there in 2 seconds. I had to keep telling her to slow down. Even after a 12 hour shift, she would still be moving at lightning speed. DAYNA’S smile is not only infectious, but therapeutic. I am sure DAYNA’S care shortened my stay at TMC. She is not only an inspiration to her successors, but also her peers. I have had many surgeries and anticipate more, and spent over a year of my life in hospitals around the world, and never once felt compelled to write to an institution about the professionalism of their staff. TMC has found a keeper in DAYNA, I wish her the best and feel She is one of the best in her field.
Thank you, Dayna, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
