I remember his demeanor was very soothing and calm, which meant a lot to me because I hardly knew my own name. That whole night, Dayton was by my side and quickly helped me with whatever I needed.
I was then taken by ambulance to the Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato hospital and admitted to 4 PCU, where Dayton was waiting for me. I remember his demeanor was very soothing and calm, which meant a lot to me because I hardly knew my own name. That whole night, Dayton was by my side and quickly helped me with whatever I needed. If I had pain, he would leave the room and return quickly with medicine that took the pain away. I remember talking gibberish, and he would just smile, touch my arm, and tell me I was going to be okay and to relax. He put on soothing music as well, but what kept me calm was his presence. He was very diligent in making sure I was given my regular meds on time so I could feel better as quickly as possible.

Dayton was my nurse for the entire five nights I was on the 4 PCU floor. I looked forward to that time because he was funny and sweet, and he made sure my needs were taken care of to the best of his ability. If I had a question, he knew the answer. If he didn't know the answer, he found out for me.

One night, I sweated through my entire bed, and he didn't hesitate to get me into the chair and change my bed very quickly, and it was 3 a.m. I was impressed by how compassionate he was. He was very responsive when I would put on my call light, and it wasn't more than a minute, and he was in my room ready to help me.

Dayton is an angel of mercy in my opinion. I've been cared for by a lot of nurses in my life and Dayton is the best.

Dayton is a nurse of exceptional quality and is well deserving of a DAISY Award.
