D'Deette went above and beyond for a patient who came to our department for routine outpatient testing. Upon his arrival and assessment, D'Deette, along with Anesthesia, was concerned about the patient's bothersome and painful eye. He had been evaluated by his PCP and did not have an improvement in his symptoms prior to coming to GEU a week later. He was with us for a routine colonoscopy and EGD, however, the symptoms related to his eye almost made necessary for the procedures to be rescheduled for another day.
D'Deette spoke with the patient's brother-in-law, who transports the patient to his many involved appointments. She coordinated between the patient, his brother-in-law, and multiple phone calls to offices to have the patient further evaluated after his procedures were complete. She made multiple calls between the patient's primary care physician and ophthalmologists in the area to find a provider that would take his insurance and see him that same day since he had other appointments already scheduled the following day. She was able to do this, along with other patient care, and really made the follow-up for the patient and his driver a smooth transition. She is the benchmark of multitasking and going above and beyond for her patients, and always with a pleasant demeanor. I am thankful to work with nurses like D'Deette.
