Recently, Dean had a patient that was extremely confused. Screaming out, hallucinating and had to be restrained for his safety. He spent the better part of his day attempting to re-orient the patient. Dean was very patient, kind and gentle with the patient and never once complained about the behaviors or how time consuming the assignment was. At one point, I was passing by the door, heard Dean soothing the patient and peeked around the corner to see if he needed help or a break, I found him on his knees on the floor next to the patient's bed holding his hand stating "it's okay, I know you're scared; I promise we will take good care of you. You are safe here and no one here will allow you to be harmed."

Dean had no idea I was watching but what I saw warmed my heart and confirmed what I already knew. Dean is a wonderful, compassionate nurse! He also always has a positive attitude and is an excellent addition to our unit family. I'm so proud to have him on staff!
