The service that Dean provided was immaculate. He was phenomenal. When you sit in a hospital room all day it is easy to lose track of the outside world and your sense of self. You see nurses all day and they usually either want to take your vitals or give you medications. But Dean took the time to introduce himself and have a conversation with me. That small act of kindness and brief human interaction allowed me to step outside of my pain, if only for a couple of minutes. He reminded me that I was a person and not just the next patient on his list. In all his interactions with me, Dean went above and beyond. He was observant and met my needs before I could even ask. He noticed my water was low and brought more. Every time I saw Dean, it was like a shining light in the dark. He was always eager and ready to assist me. Not once did he make me feel like I was a bother. Honestly, I could fill 10 of these DAISY cards about Dean. He was the best nurse I’ve ever had.
