December 2017 Honoree
dean pasatiempo, RN, BSN
Seventeen years ago, I had a double transplant. This summer I had major surgery. I had an operation to re-route my pancreas to my intestines. Once I left recovery, that's where I had pleasure in meeting Dean.
My stay at Hackensack was for six days. During that time, Dean was not my nurse every day, but he still came to see me every day.
I dealt with many nurses but never met anyone like Dean. He was caring. He made me feel safe. I was scared, Dean reassured me that I would be okay.
He is so committed to his job. Dean is a true DAISY Nurse.
Dean was the one to call me on the follow up to see how I was doing and he went over the wound care with me. I will never forget Dean or his kindness and caring.

Thank you, Dean, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
