May 2022 Honoree
Deana Grey, LPN
My grandfather had a permanent catheter put in about 5 years ago which made him have to come to the VA to get it changed every month. During the first several visits I learned which nurse was ‘easier’ when inserting or taking out, then I started requesting Dee every month. Over all those monthly visits we became friends. My grandfather loved her. He always enjoyed her hugs. When he was in the hospital and I couldn’t visit she would come to see him for me. She’s a very caring and loving nurse. Always there to answer any questions I had. My grandfather now only has a few days left to live. I’ve been at the VA with him for days. She came up to see me/him and had tears in her eyes. She genuinely cares for her patients. She made having his catheter changed every month much more bearable. I love her for that. I told her she was the best nurse he ever had and I meant it.
Thank you, Deana, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
