Deandra Maggs, BSN, RN

Deandra, or Dee as she is known by on her nursing unit, is a young nurse. She is probably one of the most outstanding patient advocates I have yet to encounter. I, too, am a nurse, and I was so very impressed by her. Dee always has a smile on her face. She is in the room at least once every hour, answers her patient call lights, comes in the middle of the night with a smile on her face to troubleshoot the Alaris pump and hang IV meds appropriately and in a timely manner. This allowed me to sleep more peacefully. Dee embodies the practices of an all-around nurse that I remember from the days when I was a young nurse, some of which we are not seeing today, and some of which are greatly needed. I cannot speak highly enough of Dee. I felt secure and safe while in her care. My family felt confident that I would be safe if left alone when Dee was on shift. She is knowledgeable and caring, demonstrating strong practice skills.
