We were blessed to have DeAnn look after our dad, T, when he was admitted to SSM Janesville from the Emergency Department on Wednesday. He was struggling with weakness and mobility issues. He also has Alzheimer's, Louis Body Dementia, and essential tremors. He was admitted for observation, and later his doctor felt it necessary to transfer him to a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation. He remained at SSM Janesville until his transfer on Monday.

DeAnn kept us informed of every step of his care. Hospital stays are a rarity for our family, so the time she took to ease our concerns meant so much more than words can convey. He was in a new environment, with a new routine, which exacerbated his anxiety and his desire to go home. DeAnn was incredibly patient with him. She took the time to sit next to him. Look him in the eyes and get him to engage with her. She learned he was a woodworker and asked him about his craft. She knew to ask questions that encouraged his responses.

When Dad became agitated at dusk, DeAnn always remained respectful and looked after his well-being. She spoke with his assigned doctor about options, and our dad was given a medication for his mood, which also helped lessen our concerns. It was a difficult situation for both of our parents. DeAnn never rushed her time with T, nor with our family. She always treated T with the utmost care. Our family is eternally grateful and thankful to have had DeAnn and the team of caregivers under her supervision looking after our dad. Thank you!
