I am recognizing Deanna because of the extraordinary compassion and calm she demonstrated during a moment that wasn't part of her assignment but became her calling.

She walked into a room simply to assist a fellow nurse during a Rapid Response but quickly realized the patient needed more than just physical help; she needed emotional support as well. Though the patient wasn't hers, Deanna didn't hesitate to stay. She immediately focused on the patient, recognizing the fear and confusion in her eyes.

Without being asked, she knelt beside the bed, gently explained what was happening, and reassured the patient that she was surrounded by people working to protect her before things worsened. When the patient began to cry, Deanna held her hand and comforted her through it, never leaving her side.

In that moment, she was more than a nurse; she was a source of peace, strength, and reassurance. Her actions not only calmed the patient but also supported the entire team during a critical time.
