Ms. Smith is a new Nurse Practitioner to Employee Health. Ms. Smith hit the ground running in taking on the multiple duties for employee health. COVID 19 was a concern for all the VA's community living facilities. Therefore, a workgroup met to determine the best way to get a handle on the spread of COVID 19 within the CLCs. Ms. Smith willing took on the responsibilities for COVID 19 screening by BINAX for the Community Living Center's staff twice a week to ensure the safety of our Veteran residents in the CLC. This role entailed coming to work early and screening over 100 employees twice a week. Ms. Smith has brought a pleasant smile, energy, and engagement with the staff to encourage safety in the workplace and has heightened staff awareness about the spread of COVID 19.

This is only one example of Ms. Smith's willingness to take on new challenges and ensure the mission of ICARE for the medical center and the employee health department. Ms. Smith's commitment and tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed in employee health.
