Deanna Lascola goes above and beyond helping our patients from their transition in the hospital to outside the hospital. On two separate occasions, in specific, Deanna has exemplified this.
Deanna was caring for a mother who received over 100 blood transfusions as the patient was more stable and transferred to medical surgical care. She incorporated holistic care for the patient and family and provided exemplary emotional support to the patient and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams like PT, OT, Medical Team, and the Nursing team to get the patient walking again and able to care for her child after she also received the news she would not be able to have more children.
On another occasion, she went above and beyond the call of duty to find a patient doctors who could help with a patient's methadone addiction and provided rehab center information that supplemented what the social worker and medical team were unable to provide the patient. She did this while caring for 4 other medical surgical patients on a very busy general medical unit.
Although there are truly tremendous nurses at Wexner Medical Center, Deanna consistently goes above and beyond for patients and their families treating them with the highest level of compassion and instilling a renewed sense of faith. She is truly an extraordinary nurse and a healer.
