Deanna was nominated for this prestigious award by a patient whom she has had the pleasure of caring for multiple times in the past. This patient noted that while she was undergoing chemotherapy Deanna would take gentle and thorough care of her during port flushes. They met again this past summer when the patient got injured and required surgery. She was relieved when Deanna came to get her ready for surgery. Deanna remembered her from previous interactions:
Pre-op nurses can set the tone for the whole experience. I would choose Deanna every time - calm, efficient, confident, and invested in me and my wellbeing. Deanna has excellent nursing skills, but how she does her nursing and what she brings to it is so outstanding about her and is so beneficial to patients.
