We had a patient with us for quite a while that had no family visiting. The patient was withdrawn until Dee began taking care of her. Dee was able to bond with the patient who is now in rehab. I have learned that Dee visits her in rehab as well and has brought her clothes, does her nails, and has had the patient's hair done. This is an exemplary example of holistic nursing and compassion care. Deanne also published an article about this patient in our hospital journal, Perspectives, titled "Holistic Nursing -From Fingersticks to Fingernails".
