Deb was working in the nursing office and was willing to be "pulled" into staffing to give this IV. The patient was able to get his test done that day.
On Christmas Eve, IVT was not here. I had a patient with a new diagnosis of cancer everywhere. He had already had his bone marrow biopsy post done on emergency the day prior. His one Christmas wish was to do the biopsy before Christmas on Christmas eve, his IV had gone bad. The patient was fearful and willing to do anything to get IV access to get his test done today.

Deb was working in the nursing office and was willing to be "pulled" into staffing to give this IV. The patient was able to get his test done that day. Deb also helped me access ports, for which I was very grateful, since I was in charge of a full team and had already left the floor to access and discharge multiple ports that day. Deb showed compassion by eliminating stress not only on me but also my patient. Radiation will begin once the results come back. Her caring for the patient made the treatment start sooner and provide answers on the type of cancer the patient has - answers they have been waiting for 2 weeks.
