Deb McCormick is an extraordinary nurse. Since the day I started working for Memorial, her commitment to each and every patient, strong work ethic, and love of nursing were apparent. I consider Deb to be a nurse who always goes above and beyond. Deb always seems to deliver great patient care for all her patients, even when the 12 hour shift can be hectic and full of situations that suddenly arise, Deb manages them with ease. Deb knows her patients like no other nurse I have ever encountered. Deb will get her assignment in the morning and by the end of her shift she will know the patient and everything about their condition, the patient's family and occupation and hobbies and interests. Deb forms a special rapport with each patient and she spends much time at the bedside getting to know her patients. I believe that the rapport that she builds allows patients to have trust and confidence in her and thereby improving patient outcomes and increasing patient satisfaction.

Deb is a team player. When it comes to the really busy days on the unit, Deb is there to provide help and support to her fellow nurses and techs on the floor. Deb is also a nurse champion when it comes to communicating with the physician and especially when it comes to the needs of the patient and communicating that to the physician. Deb's extensive nursing knowledge and experience allows her to assist others and provide exemplary patient care.

Deb had a patient that began to decline respiratory wise and she was ever so quick to intervene and get into contact with the physician regarding this patient. This resulted in a positive outcome for the patient and the patient was ever so thankful to Deb and how she intervened quickly and made quick but focused decisions.

I am consistently in awe of her attention to detail, holistic approach to care, and remarkable ability to handle any situation. While Deb does everything imaginable to help her patients, she was also able to recognize when they were in need of additional resources and care beyond what she was able to provide.
